Innovation in ETFs: Scaling Singapore's ETF Market

Smartkarma is bringing together CXO-level leaders from across Singapore's ETF ecosystem — issuers, market makers, policymakers, legal practitioners, and institutional allocators — into one forum to work through what the next phase of growth actually requires.

Singapore's ETF market has grown steadily, but crossing S$100 billion in AUM will take more than incremental progress — it calls for innovation across product design, distribution, liquidity, and regulation.

Tae Woo Kim

Head of Index Business Division, FnGuide

Prior to joining FnGuide to spearhead its index development business, Tae Woo Kim spent nearly a decade as Managing Director at MSCI leading the expansion of its domestic business in Korea — overseeing the index business, ESG, climate change, risk analytics, and alternative asset solutions, and helping launch numerous ETF and ETN products spanning domestic and foreign benchmarks, thematic strategies, and ESG indices.

He joins the table with a rare, first-hand view of how Korea scaled its index and ETF ecosystem — and what of that path may translate to Singapore's own push past $100B.

FnGuide is the leading Korean financial data and index services provider. The company was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, having established deep relationships with Korean asset managers and product issuers over the last 20 years. FnGuide and Smartkarma announced a strategic partnership to bring Korean index innovation to Singapore.
